THE CURRENT PHILIPPINES

The Philippines has undergone through lots of problems and challenges in the past which made it the current Philippines we have now – bolder, fiercer, stronger, and better. Generation to generation, it changed – politically, socially, economically and even morally. Of course, the people therein adapted these changes and continuously developing what we have now. CHANGES – not only those that is capable of making the Philippines into its new and better form, but also, those that transits the Philippines into its worst side. And now, we are fortunately embracing the blessings we have and unfortunately trying to abolish the bad side within us.

Human beings are social beings; indeed, the Filipinos are. But we are now living and breeding in a more or less organized community. Why did I say so? Let’s take for example the disparity between the NPAs and the military forces. Supposedly, the military forces is protecting its people and the state; so as the civilians have to cooperate with them. But what we are experiencing how is contrary of what is supposed to be. In our 1987 constitution, it is said that the Philippines resources was with all the nations; but how can we create and maintain and adheres to the policy of peace, equality, justice, freedom and cooperation if even within the country, and among its people, we don’t possess it.

The Philippine independence was declared in the past; and so, we have to have our sovereignty over other countries. In me, it’s okay to be friend with other nations and partially depend on them especially in times like this – when the Philippines is suffering from consecutive fall of tragedies. But as we observe right now, our country seemed to be the puppet of other countries; depending on other in a heavier weight until it reaches to the point where in even our own culture is changed for we are slowly adapting other nation’s culture.
