Week 1 - Group Procedures

Norms

At the first meeting the group will be asked to set its own norms. A set of norms that will be presented to the group for consideration and vote will be:

* Meetings will start and end on time – no backtracking if someone is late.

* The group will listen respectfully to the opinions of all team members

* Everyone will participate and take ownership of meeting our objective.

* Team members will complete assignments on time.

* Each meeting will have a note taker (rotating task) who will take and distribute notes.

* Each member will respect the value of each individual’s contribution.

* Resolution of differences will be by majority decision, on key issues the group will reach consensus.

Roles

Each person’s role in achieving the group’s objective will be defined. It will be defined in terms of its contribution to the group’s and the company’s overall goals. It will be done in specific terms (David & Frank, 2013). For example:

* Phil will be in charge of overall project coordination.

* Bob will make the safety checklist and be co-coordinator.

* Tim and David will ensure chemicals are on MSDS site.

* Paul will re-label all secondary chemicals.

* Darin and Mike will check training matrix to ensure the entire shop is current on training.

* The entire group will clean and organize the shop.

* Meeting notes will be taken by Flora, the secretary.

Objective

The objective of this group meeting is to ensure that Print Services will pass an internal environmental safety audit. This audit is set to occur May 6, 2014.
