What is a Hero? A hero is someone who is trustworthy, courageous, brave and caring. The reason that a hero should possess these qualities is because in order for someone to be considered a hero they have to be trusted, not only with secrets, but with other peoples' lives. They have to have the courage to risk their lives for others. They also must be brave, have honor in what they take pride in, take care of those who are dear to them, plus protect the people around them. More importantly, heroes should have a cautious heart and boldly face any problem that comes their way.

    Heroes today are passionate about helping others. Heroes from the past were about the same as some are today. Then, heroes endured hardship and pain to obtain one's goal, even when things didn’t go the way they planned. They never gave up. Good examples of some heroes are Sojourner Truth, Jackie Roberson, Michael Jordan, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison and Martin Luther King, Jr. Sojourner Truth is a hero because she endured a lot of rough times which mainly dealt with racism. She stood up for what she believed in, and defended what she did. She spoke mainly to white audiences about religion and Women's Rights. The people that wanted to be free, she would help then get to a free state, and if she and others were caught this meant certain death.

Michael Jordan is an American hero because; he has the courage not to give up even when he has lost a game. Abraham Lincoln is considered an American hero because he freed the slaves by issuing the Emancipation Proclamation, led the Civil War, and stay true to his country. Thomas Edison changed the world forever with his invention of the light bulb. Jackie Roberson is a good American because he was willing to do whatever he could to help desegregate baseball. He did not only desegregate baseball, but helped to start the change in America that caused the country to realize that blacks were just as important as white were. Martin Luther King, Jr. is...
