Abstract

This paper explains the ethics programs and the overall company ethics of Donut Express, a fictitious company created for this paper. This paper investigates moral and ethical issues that a real company like this would face in society today. With these examples, the paper explores how a company like this would handle the legal issues in today's society. This paper determines how this company's internal ethical programs would function according to a code of ethics, training, monitoring, and enforcement.

Ethical Organization Profile

Intro

All kinds of people go to the company The Donut Express. Can this company effectively handle customers from different backgrounds? Handling these customers the wrong way, or trying to manage a team of employees with very different personalities and working styles can make things more difficult than they need to be, and it can hurt a company's future (Warner, 2007). Right now, The Donut Express is functioning well and earning a good profit. It still needs to be sure, though, that its ethical standards, trainings, process of monitoring, and its enforcement are enough to keep The Donut Express away from legal trouble. Training and standards enforcement can effect the long-term profitability of a small business to an extent even greater than they affect a large one (Elam, 2008).

Current Moral and Ethical Issues

All companies, including The Donut Express, are always trying to stay abreast of the way that society and business change their ethical standards. As Jack Mahoney wrote in his article What makes a business company ethical?:
