Organizational Leadership

An effective, productive team is dependent on goals, mutual accountability, a good leader, and open communication lines. There must be a certain level of respect for others’ input and individual ideas. In order for a team to be successful, all members must contribute and be willing to establish and maintain a healthy level of trust. Each member should be prepared to grow, both collectively and individually, and support their fellow team member to reach their highest level of productivity. Working within a team helps develop new skills and reinvigorate forgotten ones. The team approach is designed to glean the best and brightest attributes for the betterment of the project, and ultimately allow each member to feel connected supported, bolstered and appreciated.

A good team is reliant upon a good leader. The leader will contribute as a positive guide. They will coach the team and monitor to help the team stay focused and on track. They will encourage the team to have fun, provide the necessary tools, support each member, and inspire them to work in unity. The leader will set an example for the rest of the team and provide the team with a vision and future goals. A good leader will also provide an environment which is conducive for a team to remain respectful to one another. Sometimes it is hard for a leader to let go of the team and allow them to embrace their own originality. Allowing the team to use their own creativity may lead to unexpected solutions. However, as long as the vision and goals are not randomly changed the team will continue to persevere toward the common theme.

A team should develop a collective accountability beneficial to all involved. As a team progresses toward common goals, a level of trust is developed. If someone breaks trust, it should immediately be brought to the attention...
