Regardless of the size or function of a nonprofit organization, every nonprofit should have a CEO. Every member of a nonprofit needs a leader that casts vision of where he or she believes that the nonprofit organization should go. An organization needs someone to be accountable and to let the CFO know where the buck stops. Having a point man where all responsibility falls on is vital so the CEO must make sure that everybody else in the organization is fulfilling his or her responsibilities. Having one central leader is also very important from a management perspective because all employees need to that there is somebody who is making the final decisions. If employees are having disputes, a CEO should be able to effectively resolve matters that other employees wouldn’t have authority to rule on.
