Over the course of the semester I have realized the importance of teams in an organization. Organization behavior, in simple terms, defines individuality and teamwork in an organization. In comparison to individuals, teams tend to make better decisions and play a key role in emotional and social bonding. My goal when I began the OB 221 class was to form a successful bond with my team and in the process grow as a more responsible and a cohesive team player. Once with my team it was clear that one of our biggest barriers would be our diversity. My team, consisting of Justin, Ryan, Candice, Melanie and Les definitely had our qualms; from different work ethics to different writing and speaking styles we definitely had our differences. The goal of my team was to Respect, understand and value other people’s opinions and point of views. Over the course of the semester and this course we worked hard on the above-mentioned goal and on various other aspects, which would help make us a better and a well-knit unit.

The GPS exercise was a building block in our relationship with each other it gave us a chance to get to know each other. The anxiety, which was present in the classroom when we had all met each other for the first time, was gone. We had to adjust to the fact that everyone in our team had a different dimension to their personality Les and Melanie were conscientious they tried to keep everyone disciplined during team meetings and cut down on the social loafing. Justin and Ryan were definite extroverts and were assertive about their thoughts. Candice and me tried to be agreeable with everyone and tried to work with everyone’s thoughts and recommendations. At the same time we tried to help the team with useful recommendations. As the semester grew there was a lot of pressure on us to find the right industry it was at this point where we experienced our first conflict.
