Hospitals across the United States are all going through or have gone through the process of adopting electronic medical records (EMR). This paper looks at the methods used in changing from paper charting to EMRs. The paper will look at the methods and how to monitor implementation EMR throughout a large public hospital In addition, the paper will look into the relationship between the organizations related to process, systems personal and professional roles that the effect proposes of EMRs change. The final area this paper will identify communication techniques used to address any implementation issue that happens during EMR change.
First paper is about Level one hospital of 200 beds that could expand to 275 beds in an emergency and their methods to change from paper charting to EMRs. This hospital is a busy hospital it is the main public hospital for almost a city of a million people. The change from paper charting to EMRs must be seamless and transparent to our patients. There will be no change or delay in the way the hospital takes care of its patients. Before implementing this change the leadership of the hospital system reviewed why it is important as the hospital change to EMR. The leadership reviewed and identify barriers that can affect or influence the implementation of EMR plus identify factors my influence the readiness of, the hospital for the implementation of EMR.
When a large company decides the change, they need a methods to monitor the change this hospital is a large hospital, which is the center for public healthcare system. Monitoring change during the process during and after implementation determines the effectiveness change, unsuspected problems.
