One of the main reasons that a bomb was dropped on Japan during the war was because President Truman thought it was the best way to get Japan to surrender. Japan had been given two different chances to surrender but they ignored them and continued on with their own projects and what not. So in the allies eyes bombing both Hiroshima and Nagasaki would finally got them to surrender, which It did. Another reason why the bomb should have been used on Japan was because it saved the American lives and ended of the war in a timely fashion. With Japan surrendering, it saved the lives of 100,000 Americans and 1,000,000 Japanese.

The bomb should not have been used on Japan because it resulted in the death of a large number of innocent people. As a result of being bombed the Japanese finally came to the realization of how serious the allies were about surrendering the first two times. Truman also felt that using the bomb would end the war in a more timely matter. In the end the usage of the bomb did result in the surrender of Japan, but only if the Emperor of Japan was able to keep his thrown.

The atomic Bomb should have been used on Japan. I feel this way because the pros are greater than the cons in my opinion. Even though some civilians were killed as a result the lives of over 1 million soldiers was spared. That being said the war was also ended quicker because of Japans surrender therefore
