Business Communication Trends Paper

Linda Searcy

University of Phoenix

The manager at one business told his employees to send him an email if they needed to get in contact with him. The manager at another business facility told his employees to communicate with him face to face if they needed to get a message across to him. Each manager likes to be communicated with a different way. No matter which way one chooses the key is to know the proper way to communicate.

According to the text (Locker, Kienzler) businesses depend on communication for many things to keep the company running strong. Some examples of these could include planning, training, hiring and trying to get messages across to the customers and employees. Communication is the way the employees can get their point across to get a job completed.

There are many different ways of communicating in the business environment. In my place of employment the main source of communication is email. Email is used by everyone throughout the whole company. We use email to get information to the different department managers and store managers. The store manager of my store uses email to keep up with the information that he has relayed to the department managers. Emails are used as record keepers to prove that a message has been relayed to the person intended.

Emails helps me manage what the manager expects for me to get completed and when. The messages are used to let me know specifics of what the manager wants to be done. The emails are a way to effectively relay messages to all of the department managers in the store. The manager says this is a way for him to know what the details are of the messages that has been relayed to the department managers. When the manager sends an email he expects for it to get completed in a timely manner. I am fond of emails for the simple fact that I am aware of what the manager expects me to do other than my normal daily activities.
