Addressing the Challenges of Groups and Teams

Many challenges face groups and teams at any given time, knowing how to address these challenges is the key to the success of any group or team. In today’s business world teams in the workplace are facilitating many changes in policies and procedures. For this reason it is important for managers to identify people to involve in each team to ensure a good fit is made. Some groups are more diverse than others and there may be many challenges in communication. Still, other groups are less diverse and therefore, have fewer problems with communications. Team C of University of Phoenix’s Leadership course is a diverse group of individuals from all over the globe. They come from different cultures with different work and educational experiences, and come from different generations. On the other hand this group has a common goal of obtaining a master’s degree in business administration. The completion of the leadership course is essential for obtaining this degree. This week team C addressed the challenges they face within the learning team and came up with a training plan that would best allow the group to work together more effectively.

To understand the decisions team C made in developing their training plan it is best to define the traits of the learning team. Team C is a self-managed team brought together by the instructor of the Leadership course for the purpose of learning from each other by completing select projects together. A self-managed team is responsible for producing a product or service. In team C, this means the team must collaborate together to complete a course project. Self-managed teams must collaborate together in order to produce a finished project and actively involve each team member.
