The record has been broken! Avatar has passes the all time gross sales mark and is still going. People thought that this goal would never be reached, but it did. This incredible task did not just happen overnight. I am going to show a descriptive statistical analysis that compares different movies from 2005 in opening gross sales, number of theaters that the movie was shown in, and the number of weeks that the movies were in the top 60.

My data has shown that you need to get a fast start with you opening sales to have the best gross sales. The Correlation Coefficient of the comparison between gross sales and opening gross sales is 0.96465 out of one. I believe that this is so high because a lot of time and money go into getting everyone excited about the movie and it is fresh on peoples mind. Also the more people go to see your movie, they are going to tell people about how good the movie is and the people that they tell will go see the movie bases on their friend’s recommendation. One other thing is that if you have good opening sales then the more theaters your movie will be shown in. This leads us into my second analysis that compares total gross sales of the movie to the number of theaters it is shown in. The Correlation Coefficient of the number of theaters and total gross sales is 0.754468. This positive correlation is due to the more theaters that your movie is shown in, not only allows more room for viewers to watch but also allows for more times that you can see the movie throughout the day. Once you have succeeded in these two task then you have a greater chance that you will have your movie in the top 60 for more time. This is also a positive correlation at 0.334502.

In conclusion, I hope that I have shown you the descriptive statistics showing the relationship between the total gross sales and each of the other variables. The largest correlation between total gross sales and the other variables is the opening gross sales, followed by...
