Organizing Work

In this paper there will be a discussion of the organization CBS, Inc. The firm’s hierarchy and organizational structure will be examined in order to create, through analysis, a structure that will aid the company in functioning at its best. Team “A” will assert any changes to the organizational structure that will allow CBS, Inc. to thrive effectively and efficiently, and when Team “A” sees no reason to alter the firm’s current structure it will make no adjustments. The team will justify and recommendations or changes it decides to implement with the goal in mind to improve the organization.

Recommendations

CBS is an admittedly centralized company with a mechanistic and divisional structure. They are considered divisional because there are various departments and aspects of this company including television, radio, and written publications. Currently this structure works well for the company as a whole because the divisional structure helps keep the company organized,

efficient, and effective. Each division has a specific topic that they are focusing on from print media to television so that the organization is not crossing into each other’s point of focus.

The current strategy plan and organizational structure that the corporation has in place is already effective for their company. CBS plans to open a new location in Los Angeles specifically for marketing, web development, and social media. This is a good idea for CBS because their main headquarters is in New York so CBS will infiltrate both the East and West Coasts of the United States. CBS will also keep the structure of the company organized by creating a new division instead of adding to an existing one.
