“Biggest Loser”, Losing Extreme Weight in Extreme Time For a Prize.

Ten years ago the American TV audience was introduced to another reality show that differed from a TV. Crew following celebrities in their daily routines, NBC the major TV. Channel started the new show “The Biggest Loser”. There is an undisputed rising popularity as many viewers relate to the contestants and their struggles, but also by the end of the show all of the contestants lose significant weight with the help of the state of the art gym equipment, under the guide of renowned personal trainers and under close supervision of physicians and dieticians. But most importantly the eventual winner of the “Biggest Loser” is awarded with $250,000 grand prize. Although the show has had some great reviews it hasn’t been without controversy, the latest comes in the name of Rachel Frederickson. The twenty-four year old from California who is not talked about winning the last Season, but at 5.5’ losing 155 pounds and weighing from 260 to 105 pounds. The enormous attention that the social media has paid to Rachel’s weight loss has been almost interrogative, as the winner had to take interviews in different shows and magazines to defend herself thus it seemed as losing almost 60% of her weight gained her notoriety fame rather than acclaim. The Biggest issue of the Biggest Loser seems to be that the contestants lose too much weight at a very short time and also that the ultimate prize seems to be the grand prize rather than what it should be: losing weight, being healthy and fit.
