I express my profound regard, dedicated spirit of gratitude and sincere thanks to Mr. M Emdadul Haq, my instructor for the course POL101 (Introduction to Political Science), who has given me the opportunity of working on this book and provided me with proper guidance in preparing this review. His efforts helped me to enrich my knowledge and experience regarding analysis of different contemporary political cocepts that are of great importance.

This book review has been done as a partial fulfilment of the BBA program in the course POL101 (Introduction to Political Science). The book under review is entitled ‘Contemporary Political Concepts’, edited jointly by Georgina Blakeley and Valerie Bryson, published by Pluto Press, London and Sterling, Virginia, USA. The book has contributions from eleven authors who have high academic excellence and profound teaching and research experience to their credit. The book, which is the product of a conference hosted by the Department of Politics of the University of Huddersfield in November 1999, contains valuable writings from the contributors on different contemporary political themes and issues of great importance and interest.

This book consists of eleven chapters. Each chapter deals with an individual contemporary political concept. The concepts examined in this book have been selected because they represent a distinct moment or mood amongst political theorists and commentators in the west, who are responding to a particular set of political and ideological circumstances.
