Introduction

Working in a group format is meant to teach team building technique and promote individuals working together, however, working as a team or group can be an eye-opening experience. As a law enforcement officer for 12 years, this profession is one that strives on teamwork and dedication. Effective teamwork in law enforcement can determine the successful outcome in life-altering and high-risk critical incidents. Having participated in numerous team activities and worked closely with others to achieve a common goal, working as a team can yield positive results to organizational management. The group assignment in the course of Managing Organizational Behavior was no different than any other previous experience working with a group or team setting. Group projects and team assignments have always been a great way for members of a class to bond and form professional friendships. During the course of this term, I had the pleasure of working with Shamilla Ally, Clenard Harmon, Crystal Hoarau, Beejal Nayee, and Antonio Sosa. Each individual in the group demonstrated the ability to work well with others and the enthusiasm to learn. Are first impressions always what they seem? This question will be answered many times over throughout my critique of my reflections working in this group.

Evolution of the Group

The evolution of the group occurred on the first night of class. Class members had formally introduce themselves to everyone, and Dr. Duke, our professor, explained the integral parts of the course syllabus. The goals and objectives for each individual assignment were spelled out along with the expectations of each member of the class.
