Policing Development and Operation Trends

Since the beginning of what is currently known as police departments, development and operation trends were developed. As time passed, some of the trends developed were accepted, as well as some trends were not received. Operational aspects, organizational management, and administration trends take on different aspects in policing. Trends developed from the past, those in current use in the present, and future developed trends, do and will, impact the development and operation of policing. Local, State, and Federal levels of law enforcement will feel the change of trends as they evolve.

Analyze the organizational management, administration, and operational aspects of policing within policing organizations.

“Theories of police administration have been largely derived from the more general fields of organization theory, public administration, and business administration. Police administration text topics and training programs have changed over the years, sometimes in response to new developments in the practice of police administration, and sometimes in response to new ideas and concepts from research and literature. Today, several approaches can be identified that differ primarily in the emphasis they give to particular components of police administration and factors affecting police organizations,” (Administration of Policing, n.d.). Police administration and organizations use many different theories and approaches to policing. Police administration and organizations developed the policing policies used from business administration, organization theory and public administration.
