Children of Divorce

Don’t you wish that your life was just like a fairytale that you see on television? When I was growing up, I’ve always watched many Princess movies and wished that one day my life would be just as perfect as what I saw on television. Not only was I looking at movies as a role model for my future, but I also looked at my parent’s relationship. Just when I thought everything was perfect, it also felt wrong as if there was an elephant in the house. My parents decided that a divorce was the best solution for everyone. A divorce is very stressful; however what others don’t understand is that a divorce can actually be a good outcome and more importantly for the children. Children of divorce can be touched very effectively, but we shouldn’t allow a divorce stop us from being successful.

Divorce is a very complex decision not only for the parents, but also for the children. Children of divorce can face many outcomes, whether it is good or bad. Most importantly, children of divorce should know that when their parent’s decides to get a divorce it is for the best for everyone. This proposal about children of divorce is to convince readers that a divorce is a good thing for the family, and more importantly for the children. Although, I am not an expert about divorce, however I will include several sources that will establish my credibility by adding my own personal experience, and using ideas from Carpenter (2009), Clark and Whitehead (2013), and Pina (2014).

Divorce can be a very difficult issue to talk about, but what’s more important in a divorce is the children. The children aren’t the ones that chose to have this event in their family and they need to understand that although it will be hard to get used to, at the end there is a good lesson out of it.
