Abstract

Greece is a country that has a rich ancient history of innovation and cultural advancements. The Greeks have a heritage of beautiful tourism locations and a great pride in their country which has continued to modern times. However, like some other countries who are members of the European Union, Greece has had their share of hard times in the last decade with funding issues, deficits and social unrest. This paper will take a look into the history of Greece and how their economy has grown in the past and where they are now. Doing business with Greece may prove to be challenging when some areas are still dealing layoffs and shut downs, however, the future for Greece continues to improve with changes in the political system and attitudes changing about growing business with trade and foreign countries outsourcing to that region. This research will be addressing 4 major questions; what are the major elements and dimensions of culture in the region? How are these elements and dimension integrated by locals conducting business in the nation? How do both of the above items compare with the US culture and business? And finally, what are the implications for US business that wish to conduct business in that region? Findings will show that Greece has begun to put into place economic and political structures that will aide in healing the country’s financial woes. Doing business in this region will be a slow process, and continues to show a great amount of risk for the investors, however, Greece has the resources and potential to once again be a great country to grow a business.
