The workplace in America is becoming more diverse all the time. This forces organizations to consider more diverse hiring practices so they are not viewed as discriminatory. More employers are coming up with solutions to create and promote an inclusive workplace for both gender in order to maximize productivity, attract new talent and increase employee commitment. Therefore, Walmart’s action on promoting gender diversity and equality in workplace issues can have a significant impact upon their brand reputation, so inclusion makes good business sense. However, Walmart will still face with all sorts of challenges while promoting a gender diverse workplace.

Definition of gender diversity

Gender diversity in the workplace is the equal treatment and acceptance of both males and females in an organization. Gender diversity adds value to a company's bottom line due to the different viewpoints of diverse gender.

Employees different gender will bring together a variety of perspective, thereby bringing alternative of ideas as well as approaches when discussing a topic or an issue. If the organization able to manage a gender diverse workforce well, the strengths and best insights of every individual can be fully utilize to increase and improve organization’s productivity and deliver better results. According to C. Douglas McMillon, the president and chief executive officer of Walmart, stated that the composition of the workforce is vital as it plays a role in determining the potential for success of an organization.
