Together We Stand for Our Community

When a person purchases a home in a new community he or she trust that everything is safe from illnesses that may harm his or her family. The community that we are currently residing in has seen a tragic occurrence among its residents. I have observed many children and adults that are suffering from unknown illnesses from unexplained origins. This illness is not just affecting individuals for the same household but for all over the community, thus it could not be just a mere cold or flu epidemic. We, as a community, need to work together to return our lovely community back to its original state of trust and beauty.

After conducting a survey, several of the residents in the community noted that they were getting sick more often and thought it to be the flu or cold. They would complain about light-headedness, forget fullness and having flu like symptoms to their primary care physician; others contacted the gas company to have an evaluation done, which stated that there was no leak detected in the homes.

Upon inquires to the local utilities companies concerning the illness that is affecting the community it was discovered that the gas company’s practices were very mediocre when connecting the main supply line to the houses meters. Since, the lines were not installed correctly; a leak in the system caused methane to damage the air.

The problem needs to be corrected by the gas company because it was their error. As a community, we contacted the gas company to have them check the meters going into the homes. The gas company has agreed to fix the leaks with the appropriate materials at no cost to the residents. Since the issues, concerning the illnesses that the residents have experienced had not been scientific linked directly to the gas leak, the gas company denied paying any medical expenses for the residents.
