INTRODUCTION

1. Background to the study

Among the serious constraints to female education, is dropping out from school by female students and this remarkable in sub-Saharan Africa. Girls are dropping out of high school at dangerously high rates according to Kane E (1995). The high school dropout crisis certainly results in wastage. There are significant costs to be paid by both the individual and the nations as a whole for each and every student who drops out of high school. General and in the face of current creeping credentials dropouts are beset with significant challenges in obtaining employments and achieving economic security. According to Davison J. (1993) female dropouts are at particular economic risk. The drop out of female learners from high school denies them the opportunity for employments as well as the means to increase their social and political participation. Furthermore the non-completion of schooling by females contributes to their low social status in society as well as limits capacity to increase their social and political participation in society. Furthermore the non- completion of school by females contributes to their low social satus in society as well as to their reduced decision making power in the home and over their lives as stated by Davison J. (1993). Given the economic and social benefits of female education the drop out of female students from high school represents a significant regression in the development of nations.

2. Statement of the problem

Despite the privileges that girls enjoy today, some of which are: Scholarships offered by matterstile and bhp billiton some girls are still quitting from high school. Droping out of high school for female students is a serious threat to female education. High school dropouts pay significant costs for their lact of adequate education.
