MICROBIOLOGY FOR NON-SCIENCE MAJORS BIOL 2420.51

Course Description: Study of the morphology, physiology, and taxonomy of representative groups of pathogenic and nonpathogenic microorganisms. Pure cultures of microorganisms grown on selected media are used in learning laboratory techniques. Includes a brief preview of food microbes, public health, and immunology Prerequisites and/or Corequisites: BIOL 1406, 1408, 1409, 2401, or 2404 with a minimum grade of C, or consent of division chair. Semester Hours 4 (3 lec/3 lab) Course Notes and Instructor Recommendations: Blackboard is used to post lecture slides and notes, as well as lab exercises and exam reviews. There will also be reading quizzes to be completed through Blackboard. I highly recommend that you print out the lecture slides and notes and bring them to lecture and take notes in addition to what I post online. The lab exercises will also be posted on Blackboard and must be brought to lab. Finally, the reviews will be of great benefit to you in preparation for taking the lecture exams.
