1. When comparing performance during the first five months of 2010 with performance in 2009, which warehouse shows the most improvement?

This paper shall start out comparing performance of the warehouses during the first five months of 2010 with their performance in the first five months of 2009 and will continue with a forecast of how much the firm is likely to spend on warehousing for the last six months of 2010.

I decided to judge performance by the bottom line, which to me is how much cost is generated per unit of product shipped. In comparing the first five months of 2009 and 2010 all warehouses increased their cost per unit shipped (highlighted in red) except St. Louis. This would equate, that the St. Louis warehouse is doing more with less.

| Atlanta | Boston | Chicago | Denver | Fargo | Los Angles | Portland | St. Louis |

$ per unit shipped 2009 | 9 | 9.119569 | 9.001983 | 8.557214 | 9.064286 | 9.5958359 | 8.942651 | 9.966538 |

| | | | | | | | |

$ per unit shipped 2010 | 9.969765 | 9.431228 | 9.27262 | 10.48557 | 11.94652 | 9.8771707 | 9.264348 | 9.069471 |

Difference 2009-2010 | -1 | -0.31166 | -9.27262 | -1.92836 | -2.88223 | -0.281335 | -0.3217 | 0.897067 |

The next table shows the actual five month expenditure per warehouse for 2009 and 2010. Six of the eight warehouses increased their expenditures (red), Los Angeles had a decrease in expenditures but it was less than the decrease at St Louis. This shows that the St. Louis warehouse showed the most improvement.

| Atlanta | Boston | Chicago | Denver | Fargo | Los Angeles | Portland | St. Louis |

2,009 | $ 35,890 | $ 27,915 | $ 131,618 | $ 8,600 | $ 8,883 | $ 109,690 | $ 36,021 | $ 23,232 |...
