Organizations

Society is impacted daily through various levels of organizations and social functions. The formal relationships between individuals and groups can be observed in the patterns of rules, authorities, and goals of the organization itself. According to Perrow, we live in a society of organizations because “larger organizations have absorbed society”(Lecture 1). Due to the fact that organizations have grown and continue to grow both in power and capacity, its influence on social values, norms, and ideologies can be linked to the engagement of individuals and their overall well-being. Ranging from microscopic problems such as personal issues and levels of happiness to ones that have greater and larger value on the community scale like the economy and the environment, organizations impact the social lifestyles of many people who actively engage in any system of relations and accord.

Just like everyone else, organizations are easily an everyday part of my life and schedule. From the moment I wake up, I am organized in a manner that has me succumb to the social organizations that influence the direction of my life goals and ambitions. Five organizations that influence the routines of my daily life are school, church, work, Facebook, and my internship. Each of these organizations service and profit from my time and skills in order to help me improve in areas of spirituality, education, social interactions, career decisions, and relationships.

Of these five organizations, an organization that I find to be important and crucial to myself and to many others around the world is the institution of education. The university that I currently attend is the University of California, Riverside and this specific university is a branch off of a larger system of other University of California schools.
