Club IT is a nightclub owned and managed by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. They recently graduated with a degree in business administration. After graduation they decided to open a nightclub together. Their mission is to provide a nightclub that offers live music, a spacious dance area, and enjoyable entertainment, and refreshments. Lisa and Ruben have put a lot of effort into remodeling their club’s interior, but are starting to think about the club’s information management systems.

Club IT has made some progress in starting an IT plan but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Implementing a Joint Application Design (JAD) method in advancing their systems development would not only help to create a system that meets the needs of the Club IT staff, but also its clientele. If Club IT intends on gaining a competitive business advantage through active participation in e-commerce, they must take the appropriate steps.

One of the biggest problems that Club IT is facing is with its internet connection. Currently, Club IT operates using a dial-up connection.

Dial-up connections are extremely slow and occupy the phone line. They are also generally incapable of supporting any potential upgrades that may come after completing a JAD analysis. Dial-up also limits user’s ability to participate in functions like video-conferencing or online gaming. A high speed internet connection will clearly improve efficiency in all functional areas at Club IT. Another thing that needs improvement is Club IT’s information management. It is currently limited and needs to be broadened.   These problems can be resolved through CRM (Customer Relationship Management), SCM (Supply Chain Management), and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). They can increase client retention and enhance their relationships through customer relationship management.   Because most customers are now wireless technology, they can order tickets to weekend concerts over their phones....
