Creative Intelligence and Leadership

On Baderman Island there are four key members of the management team; Giovanna the Manager of Activities, Trent the Manager of Human Resources, Pedro the Manager of Marketing, and Alejandra the Manager of Finance. Each of the four members participated in a Creative Intelligence Profile exercise to help the company understand how each member might affect the innovation within Baderman Island. The Profile looked at how each member ranked in being Innovative, Intuitive, Imaginative and Inspirational.

An innovative person is someone who looks at problems that are within Baderman Island and tries to solve them (Rowe, 2004). Innovators work hard to get the job done and also rely heavily on data (2004). Intuitive people look at past experiences that did not work to help guide them to make things better within an organization. Using visual opportunities and being artistic and thinks “out of the box”, are imaginative people (2004). Inspirational people focuses on social change and is charismatic (2004). Below are the findings from each member’s profile.

The Creative Intelligence Profile for Giovanna shows that she is more Innovative and Intuitive and less Imaginative and Inspirational. Her position as the Manager of Activities lends itself well to her strengths because being innovative helps her create new and interesting activities to keep the guests occupied and happy. However, being less Inspirational doesn’t make her the best of team players and this is something that she can work on for her management team.

Trent, the Manager of Human Resources, showed a tendency towards being Innovative. Being Innovative will help the Human Resources department at Baderman Island retain their employees by staying innovative with the ways it compensates its employees.
