Voice or Internet Protocol (VoIP) has become almost main stream now and has affected many businesses. VoIP is the phone service on your computer, using a broadband intern connection as a dial. This great invention of VoIP phone service has not only help people stay connected across the world cheaper, but has help business save hundreds of dollars a day of their phone bill. Now VoIP have become is a cutting edge war to bring the most customers to the best VoIP plan. The VoIP technology was originally created and used to replace the old switched telephone networks the public was on. Thankfully telephones have moved on pass the Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) and Plain old telephone services (POTS) for they now have a wipe open choice of services such as voice, data, and now VoIP. Most companies, when deciding to build a new communication system would build from the ground up to combined their voice, data and the VoIP, that will fit the company. However this is not always the case in some companies.

The Baltimore Sun is a newspaper company. This company needed to update their communications system and needed the best communications system possible to same current with the times and their competitors. The article I have chosen also stated that the newspaper, just like hospitals had expectations and up time. The company would greatly benefit from a VoIP system however the Baltimore Sun was on a low budget and would not be able to afford the new system to run on new CAT 5E cables which is necessary to run a VoIP correctly. The VoIP would have to start off by being installed of the old CAT 3 cables that were running throughout the very old building. The company was able to build the communications system using the original Cat 3 cabling and was bless that within six months, because of the deal they made with a wiring company, where able to replace the Cat 3 cables to the correct CAT 5E...
