In this particular advertisement it’s clear that it appeal to the emotion of people. It main message is to encourage people to donate money is they are able to do so to kids and families that are less fortunate than most are who may have fallen on hard times. In the advertisement commercials they show mostly kids in situation where they are cry or looking sad playing up the real life desperation of a child’s hungry. Having her explain the feeling of not having food to eat and not knowing when or where it will come from. Everything from the words they use is the advertisement to the music in the back ground plays a part in it. When you think of a child so young going without anyone would be urged to get involved and try to help.

Thought this advertisement uses an appeal to emotion, I personally feel that it is ok. The emotions are true that she is giving. No one is there forcing her to cry or telling her to cry or look sadly at the cameras. Only difference is it is just being highlighted on TV for all to see. But that in its self does not make the emotions that Karen has any less truthful then if in real life we saw a child in the same situation. Just as in real life if I were to see a child hungry on the streets I would do something about it. There are families every day that deal with this and for the fact that these types of advertisements are out there many families are being help. So at the end of the day even though they play on a person’s emotion they are very much effective in getting their message across to people and ending this problem in the world.
