My Personal Goals

After completing high school I immediately began to attend junior college at Palomar College. I was extremely focused and off to a great start earning 52 credits and my associate’s degree. I also met my I also met my wife and very shortly after we had a beautiful baby boy. At this time I had to put my education on hold to focus on working full-time in order to provide for my soon to be family. I always had the intention of returning to school and completing my bachelor’s degree but as time passed it became less and less practical. At the age of 24 I made a life-changing decision to join the Untied States Navy and pursue a career in the air traffic control field. After serving for four years I successfully have secured a position with the FAA and now find the time to return to school and finish my degree. My goals while attending University of Phoenix are to earn my bachelor’s degree and press on to achieve my master’s over the next three years as these degrees will open many doors in the management community of the FAA I will achieve these goals by remaining focused and managing my time in a more efficient manner.

To remain focused is easier said than done. This I believe was my downfall while attending junior college. Although I had a baby and was working fulltime, I believe if I remained focused I could have finished my degree while juggling my family and work. I feel as if I used this as an excuse to no longer attend school, as it would have required long days and a large amount of work. It took many years to realize this and I feel that this realization will help me while attending University of Phoenix. Many years later my priorities and my perspective have changed drastically. My concerns have evolved from a car payment and rent into a mortgage payment, health care, my sons education, and retirement. When I begin to lose...
