Part A.

In today’s society, social responsibility and profitability go hand-in-hand. Most companies look at social responsibility with the same importance as the bottom line. Communities expect that all companies big or small are being as socially responsible as possible. Unfortunately, Company Q is not one of these companies. Company Q’s recent actions are not placing the same importance to social responsibility as it is to profitability. Company Q is not taking the steps to be as socially responsible and to support the community. Company Q’s lack of social responsibility may be a key factor as to the recent closure of stores.

Part B, Action 1.

It is not an unknown that society is struggling. Every day many people, adults and children, die of hunger. For this reason, food banks are reaching out to businesses for donations. Due to the lack of financial donations, food banks have resorted to requesting the donation of day-old food products. This is a clear cry for help by the community and the food banks.

Company Q did not hear this cry for help. Company Q has forgot its social responsibility. It’s choice not to donate the day-old products is a complete failure of social responsibility. Company Q’s justification for not supporting the food bank shows that it is putting more importance to profitability then it is to its social responsibility to the community.

Company Q cites that theft and fraud is the reason for not supporting the food bank. However, Company Q fails to remember that other companies are donating to the food bank without those issues. There is a way that the donations can be done in order to prevent fraud and theft. Company Q should immediately change its position on supporting the food bank by reaching out to the other socially responsible companies to find out how they are donating the food without the issues of theft and fraud and then donate the day-old food to...
