Introduction

In the twentieth century, the one of the world famous management consultant and social worker Mary Parker Follett had proposed that ‘knowledge and expertise, rather than manager’ is the most important judge factor for deciding who should to be a leader at any particular moment (Waddell, Jones & George 2013, p. 44). In other word, knowledge and expertise are the main considerations when the company or any organizations decide who would be their leader. In this essay, whether the opinion is appropriate and correct or be suitable for any situation will be discussed. At the first, the essay will analyze that under what circumstances, the viewpoint that Follett had proposed is appropriate. Secondly, what factors and opinions are oppose with Mary Parker Follett’s viewpoint will be emphasized in this essay. There are a lot of examples provided and opinions from other fame management consultants will be appeared in this essay either. In this part, there are a lot of notions will be proposed which mainly come from two management consultants Henri Fayol and Frederick Taylor. Thirdly, a comprehensive analysis between two different notions will be raised. At the last, an overall conclusion that put emphasis on different aspect of opinions and also the writer’s opinion will be contributed.
