Chapter 1- Introduction

As technology continues to advance, computers are becoming more part of everyday life. Computers are everywhere, at work, at school and at home. Many daily activities involve the use of or depend on information from a computer. This is because computers are used in almost every field and profession like education and office works to perform large number of computer application. It is also the best solution for providing information and a way of communication in every individual and gives better understanding of some events that can arouse the interest of some particular subject matter.

Computers can be considered as another instrument for developing a system like enrollment in every school. This can be a great help to those students, teachers and school who are handling any task from providing easier and faster access.

Enrollment is the process of entering and verifying data of a student to register in a particular school. These processes are made easier by the system called Enrollment System (ES). ES is built up with different process such as entering, verifying, handling and its interrelated processes. This system is particularly used in recording and retrieving information of the students which are needed by the school. Many institutions, universities and schools have been using this kind of system.

In the case of Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School (MCCNHS), enrollment system is done manually. From getting information from the students to segregating them are done manually. Clearly the manual processes for enrollment are time-consuming tasks. The school has been doing these for years already. As of the current school year, the population of the students has been rounded up to 3,300. This requires a lot of time especially in segregating them.
