Part 1: Introduction
According to United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), North Carolina’s net electricity generation came from coal shipped by rail and truck from West Virginia and Kentucky. Present renewable energy sources are estimated at around 5%, more efforts should be spent on energy conservation and broadening renewable energy programs.
Part 2: Energy Self Assessment
The net electricity also known as total energy that I consume on a daily basis includes electricity; to power the laptop I use to telecommute to work, to power the space heater I rely on during the cold winter months, to power the Keurig Brewing Machine every morning to supply my perfect cup of coffee and to power my treadmill which I walk on each day. Last but not least the most critical energy source for several households in the Carolinas is the Natural Gas used to heat our homes.
From year to year daily energy uses such as electricity used to power my laptop, Keurig Brewing Machine, treadmill are pretty consistent for me as a person that works out of my home. However the electricity used to power the space heater and the natural gas used to heat my home are only utilized during the winter months. During the summer months daily energy uses are transferred to the Central Air Condition unit used to cool my home.
Part 3: Renewable Energy Analysis
Renewable energy is energy that is constantly replenished and will never run out. Most renewable energy originates from the sun. Solar energy is a type of renewable energy that can be used to for heating, lighting and for hot water heating. Wind turbines a second source of renewable energy is used to help capture the winds energy. According to National...
