I. Introduction
The story entitled “Candido’s Apocalypse†written by Nick Joaquin is a story that talks about a boy named Bobby and his apocalypses or his revelations.
The story has the sub title “Stages in the Dark Night of The Heart between 17 and 18â€, and the story was told from the third person point of view or what we refer to as the omniscient. “This too white marble roomâ€, this line was repeatedly mentioned throughout the text. What does it connotes? Why the story is entitled “Candido’s Apocalypseâ€? What are the different symbolisms used in the text? What do they mean? This paper focuses on the analysis of the said story through the application of various literary approaches.
II. Background of the Story
The story entitled “Candido’s Apocalypse†written by Nick Joaquin is a story that talks about the story of Bobby, a son of a rich couple who had undergone various conflicts; the most difficult is his quest for his identity. A quest towards his desire of becoming a grown up, then at the end realized that it is better to stay the way you are and on where you are, for the world is full 9f pretentious people. As one gets to read the story in the first glance the first question for sure that he/she would ask and be curious about is the title, why did the author entitled the story that way? Why Candido’s Apocalypse? This question would be little by little answered as we get to have a thorough analysis and study on the selection.
III. Discusion
As the analysis on the short story begins, there are symbols that could readily catch one’s attention. The story starts from the rise or from the revelation of the conflict or the problem.
