Abstract: Sy nt hesis of intermediate O- ethoxy pheny l et her and ethyl vanillin by the phase transfer cat alysis w as studied in t his paper and f act ors af fecting the sy nt hesis, such as t emperat ure, t he react ion time w ere discussed in this art icle. Af ter cont rasting the result s of a serial of experiment s, we found t he optimum synt hesis condition are as follow s: t he synt hesis of O- hy drox y pheny l ethyl ether t ook place at the tem perature 60 e ; t he synthesis of et hy l vanillin t ook place at t he t emperat ure from 55 e t o 60 e . T he result of t his st udy is t hat t he synt hesis w ay by using transfer cat alysis is pract ical and pro mosing. T he yield of O ethoxy pheny l et her can reach 75. 5% , and Et hylvanillin can reach 70% .
