List three health problems that obese people typically face and give a possible reason that each problem arises. Why should the treatment of obesity be viewed as a lifelong commitment rather than just a short episode of weight loss? Describe why and how reduced calorie intake, behavior modification and increased physical activity fit into a successful weight loss plan for this population.

Most of the obese people face the numerous breathing problems such as asthma, and sleep apnea.In addition to that people also face other health problems such as gout, and osteoarthritis.

We have heard many obese people snore while asleep, this is because they have extra or nasal floppy tissue in their system. Sleep apnea causes people to snore heavily and sometime stop breathing while asleep. Sleep apnea causes a person to sleep during the daytime and increases the chance of heart diseases and stroke. When a person has a lot of uric acid in their blood, it causes gout a joint disease. The extra uric acid forms crystals which is later deposited in the joints. A person carries his or her weight around. The extra pressure causes wears away the cartilage that protects the hips, knee, and back, causing osteoarthritis (joint condition).

It is easier to maintain a certain weight rather than making a vast change. When a person is overweight or obese they are already exposed to numerous health problem such as blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gout, osteoarthritis, and numerous breathing problem, these problems once exposed can be hard to treat and many are untreatable. Therefore, it is for one’s benefit to listen to elders saying, prevention is better than cure.

It is very crucial for obese people to lose weight in order to lead a healthy life.
