PDA claims to benefit patients, regulatory agencies and industry equally by advocating good science and creating open, transparent communication. PDA publishes the Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and the PDA Letter. These publications mostly focus on current industry and regulatory news. PDA is also known for providing training courses at its Training and Research Institute as well as online courses.

PDA’s headquarters as well as its Training and Research Institute are located in Bethesda, MD. This geographic proximity could be beneficial to the School of Pharmacy. The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) and PDA have launched a joint Good Manufacturing Practice training program at the Shady Grove campus. Some of the courses they offer might be good supplements to PharmD electives.

By enrolling as a student member to PDA, PharmD students may apply for grant funding and career growth resources

The PDA Training and Research Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education
