Older Generation

I think the most important part of my generation is the technology we have created. Now I'm sure everyone else has said this same thing, but I truly do believe technology is our greatest achievement. Many people of the older generation still think technology is not an important part of our lives. I think this is partially true. However, we have made many advances in medicine; increasing people's lifespans by many years. We have developed things to help around the house and to provide us entertainment. All of these things are very important to us.

To me, the most impressive modern technology is medicine. 100 years ago the average US lifespan was 50 years old. Today it is 80! We can now keep a brain-dead person alive using just machines. We can also cure many diseases and issues that were fatal 100 years ago. Anyone from the older generation who denies this is just blind to the truth. I believe my generation has made an impact on modern medicine thereby saving countless lives.

We have also developed a lot of important technology for use around the house and place of business. Just think about things like vacuums, microwaves, refrigerators, coffeemakers, the list goes on and on. The older generation might think that technology is not so important, but I bet we couldn't live normally without half of those things. These things sure make a big impact on us.

The last kind of technology we developed is for entertainment. Some may argue that this is not needed and is not important. However, especially nowadays, I don’t think people could go one day without these things. People rely so heavily on phones, laptops, calculators, GPS's, etc, that living without them is out of the question. No matter how you look at it, we need our entertainment sources.

To sum it all up, the world would be a very different place if it weren't for my generation. We have developed a lot of technology that lengthens our lives, helps us out, and entertains us. Many people of the older...
