Congressional Simulation Paper

The name of my member of congress is Rubén Hinojosa who is 72 years old. Rubén is of Roman Catholic faith. He represents the 15th congressional district of Texas in the rural area of the Rio Grande Valley. He is the ranking member and leading speaker of the democratic committee of the House of Representatives. Congressman Hinojosa earned a business degree at the University of Texas at Austin, while also earning his MBA at the University of Texas Pan-American.

Rubén Hinojosa is an extremely successful business man. He was president of a $40 million company known as H&H Food Processing, which has always been in his family. He served on the board of education for ten years. Hinojosa is also involved in many other subcommittees; higher education, workforce training, health, employment, labor, and pensions. These bring his main focus of legislative issues to education, immigration, agriculture and rural development, environment/energy, health care, homeland security, military, transportation, seniors, water sourcing, foreign affairs, and definitely small business holding the background he has.

There have been several major donors to Hinojosa’s recent campaigns. L&F Distributors has donated towards his campaign as well as American Crystal Sugar company. American Federation of Teachers has donated and supported him on his main focus on educational issues in the 15th district of Texas. Also, there have been donations from Border Health, Laborers Union, and Health Professionals. Rubén holds a ton of focus in such a strong variety of areas; it has helped gain much support from numerous organizations across the nation.

Here is a bit of information on Congressman Hinojosa’s district and his state of Texas. In the 2008 election 39.63% of the vote in the 15th district went to John McCain. 59.82% of voters in Texas district 15 voted Barack Obama. Rubén held a 65.7% vote...
