Group Motivation Inventory: Incentives and Motivation
Motivation is a hot topic in organizations today. Researchers are trying to find what motivates people, how, and why, and explore the benefits of motivating employees (Reeves, 2009). Motivational factors affect individuals and their emotions in different ways and can be unpredictable. According to Reeve (2009) motivation is not a science; instead theories and concepts assembled through a collection of information, helping researchers understand this complex subject better and how people respond to motivators in certain situation. Motivators are intrinsic, when motivation come from within an individual and are extrinsic when motivation comes from an external influence (Engleberg & Wynn, 2012). Tests and tools are available to individuals who wants to assess their motivation level in groups or individually. Engleberg and Wynn (2012) built the group motivation inventory from a mix of other inventory to determine the level of group motivation. The test score in this scenario will give information on my own level of motivation within a group. An analysis of the results will provide personal motivational information, interaction within a group and what motivational action for the future. Development of personal incentive is desirable to elevate motivation level and explore incentives consideration for other group members with different motivation factors.
Test results
My group motivation inventory assessment score was 107, indicative of high motivation level. The assessment confirmed my value system and what I already knew about my motivational factors. In groups this information is beneficial as it can affect other members.
