1. Why is a working knowledge of organizational behavior important to organizations and their employees?

Having a working knowledge of organizational behavior is very important to all organizations and their employees because this knowledge gives them the tools to achieve the individual and organizational goals that have been set in order to achieve either personal or group satisfaction. This can be in the form of a promotion or a salary adjustment as an individual goal, or the successful launch or a new product or a large sales promotion of a new product as an organizational goal.

A working knowledge of organizational behavior is also vitally important to CEO’s, managers and supervisors who must direct or supervise hundreds of thousands of subordinate workers on a daily basis. This is because they are the vital link for having the ultimate responsibility for the behavior of all these workers, and can take advantage of the personality strengths of individuals and their creativity derived from the employees interacting with customers and other individuals within the group and organization.

2. Why is it important to analyze the behavior of individuals, groups, and the organization as a whole to understand organizational behavior in work settings?

It is important to analyze the behavior of individuals, groups and organizations because it lets managers use their conceptual skills to determine causes and effects of situations, which includes the dynamics of how these different individuals, groups and organizations behave.
