The Power of Going Back to Time

Ever thought of going back in time? Fixing something you did or said wrong? Well, my grandfather was a smoker who suffered from medical problems. He lived thousands of miles away from me, which made it very difficult to spend time with him and if that was not enough he was the main reason I wished a time machine was built just for me.

It was a normal Sunday night all of us were in the living room, watching a movie. When all of the sudden the phone sounded, my mom went and picked up the phone. At first you could see her face relaxed, her eyes were shining, just like diamonds, and her smile was so big that it almost did not fit her face. Then, in a blink of an eye, her eyes became watery; you could see the tears stuck in her eyes trying not to drop them, her smile became a straight line, and she could not lift up her head. At that moment I knew something was wrong.

When she hung up the phone, she explained to us that my grandfather was in the hospital and that she had to go to Venezuela just in case he had little time. The next day she took the first flight she could find. I did not understand why they were being so dramatic since my grandfather spent more time at the hospital instead of his own house, in two or three days he was going to go home and it would be back to normal. But somehow I could feel it was more than that, I felt like as if my mother was not telling us everything, and all I could feel in the house was tension. No one could look in each other’s eyes, we would come home eat, and then each family member will go straight to their room.

It was almost two weeks since my grandfather was in the hospital, and we had not heard good news about him. One morning, it was exactly a Saturday morning; I wake up from my sleep.
