I. Attention Grabber
“No boundaries, no physical limitations, communicate beyond barriers and explore new horizons of mobile computing with Wi-Fi”
II. Introduction
Topic: Abstraction of a Wi-Fi connection
Background:
Technology is constantly evolving, and is allowing average people surf the World Wide Web without having any knowledge of what components are involved to gain access to the internet. The most accepted and common use of connecting to internet is Wireless-Fidelity network or commonly referred to as Wi-Fi.
Thesis:
Wireless Fidelity or Wi-Fi Network offers a range of tangible and intangible benefits to its users. Its application is not only limited to professionals or technical personnel but it expands to people engrossed in all chores
In the hindsight, Wi-Fi facilitates the mobile users with communication support. It eradicates the physical boundaries of wired networks in terms of compliance to a disparity in demand.
Wi-Fi Systems work on the protocols and standards defined under IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networking (WLAN) drafted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). These standards have several subcategories
* 802.11a
* 802.11b
* 802.11g
* 802.11n
* 802.11ac
The Wi-Fi network operates at the radio frequency of 2.45 Giga Hertz with a maximum bit rate of up to 54 Mbps. The transmission technique employed by it is direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS)
Communication across Wi-Fi networks is similar to two-way radio communication i.e. a wireless adapter encodes data into radio signals and transmits it to a wireless router, which in turn decodes the information and sends it to the internet using physical wired connection
There are generally two kinds of wireless Wi-Fi Networks
* Ad-Hoc Networks
* Wireless Network using an access point
Ad-Hoc Networks consist of a...
