Charles Reade said it best, "Beauty is power; A smile is its sword." My lifelong goal is to help others achieve that power; the power of a smile. The most frequently asked question to young children has to be "What do you want to be when you grow up?" With most responses being a doctor, lawyer, policeman, or firefighter. Stereotypically I also fall into that category. As far as I remember, I always wanted to be a doctor. However, not certain which field of medicine. Through a combination of my life experiences, extracurricular activities, and academic achievements, I have quickly realized that becoming a dentist will help me to achieve my lifelong goal.

As the daughter of a dentist, I have been fortunate enough to experience the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication involved in providing quality dental services. During my senior year of high school I had my first hands-on experience at my father's dental office. It was my first day of work as a receptionist. Walking through the waiting room, I observed the painfully nervous expressions on the patients' faces. As they approached the check-out counter following their appointments, it was then that I realized what an impact my father made in each patient's life. From that point forward, I have committed myself to helping others gain that same self confidence that I saw in my father's patients that day. It was at this point that I decided to explore the field of dentistry. Every observed wisdom tooth extraction, occlusal adjustment, root canal, and standard check-up have only fueled my desire to follow in my father's footsteps in becoming a dentist. My father and mentor possess many characteristics as a dentist that I, too, possess and hope to convey through my practice of dentistry. Not only is he on a first-name basis with his patients, he also treats each patient with the same love and care that he treats his own family. If the love and passion for health care could run in a family, it certainly has in mine....
