Lencioni Team Paper Outline
I plan to write my paper on the business banking team I worked with for three years prior to attending the full-time MBA Program at Pepperdine. This was a professional team that consisted of nine total members comprised of three banking coordinators and six full-time commercial bankers. I filled two major roles on the team. As a new member I worked as a junior banker and my role was to support the senior lenders through their financial analysis and underwriting process. In my second role as a commercial banker it was my job to completely underwrite commercial loan and credit line applications.
The purpose of this team was to provide financing for mid-to-large sized companies. I chose this team because we had tremendous success. I would like to analyze the team more closely to understand why we were so successful and what mistakes may have been made that I did not notice at the time. It is my hope that through this paper will better understand the strengths and weaknesses of this team in order to build a strong and successful team as a manager.
After completing the team assessment from the text, it became clear that this was indeed a strong team. However, the team doesn’t score off the charts in any particular area. In fact the only area in which the team scored a high score of eight was dysfunction three, lack of commitment. According to Lencioni, it is probable that this dysfunction is not a problem for this team. I strongly agree that the team was extremely committed to overall goal of increasing market share. What concerns me the most is that the other four dysfunctions are all possible problems.
