Thesis: Because PCs are more affordable, widely available, and compatible with a lot of programs that Mac isn’t, PCs have a much higher consumer base than Macs and I have to say that they are the superior product.

Possible Introduction: PC or Mac? This is a widely controversial topic that people can’t seem to agree about. Both types of computers are generally reliable and capable for most tasks that you throw at them, but it has long been argued as to which brand is superior.

Main point 1: Affordability of PCs vs. Macs

Sub-point 1: PCs are more affordable to repair, upgrade, and purchase because of retail availability and wider range of prices.

Sub-point 2: Because of affordability, much larger consumer base

Sub-point 3 (opposing point): PCs are cheaper than Macs because Macs are higher quality and the better brand.

Main point 2: Availability of PCs vs. Mac

Sub-point 1: PCs are easier to customize because of availability of parts and design of most PCs.

Sub-point 2: Macs are priced the same at all retailers because Macs are exclusive to Apple while PCs have many manufacturers and vary in prices offering better deals.

Sub-point 3 (opposing point): Made by Apple, only by Apple, you are getting an official product from a company that values quality and innovation.

Main point 3: PCs superior compatibility

Sub-point 1: PC is compatible with a lot of programs (games) that Mac is not.

Sub-point 2: Developers prioritize Windows for application development so Mac OS X is left waiting months for the same program sometimes.

Sub-point 3 (opposing point): Mostly just true for gamers, average user isn’t affected.

Possible Conclusion: Although Macs are sleek and aesthetically pleasing, they just can’t compete with PC’s affordability, availability, and compatibility. PCs aren’t perfect, but they’re much less of a hassle and much cheaper than Macs of the same specifications. PCs are superior than Macs because of those reasons....
