Internal and External Factor Paper: Barnabas

The organization that I am familiar with that is around my area is called Barnabas. Barnabas is more than a thrift store it also has a crisis program, food pantry, health services and a resale store.

The four functions of management are:

* Planning - it involves choosing tasks that must be performed to attain organizational skills, outlining the tasks how it must perform and showing when it should be performed. Planning is concerned with the success of Barnabas in short term as well as long term.

* Organizing - this can be thought as assigning the tasks developed in the planning stage. The tasks are organized so that the output of each individual contributes to making each department successful.

* Leading – this can be defined as guiding the activities of the members of Barnabas in the direction that help it move towards the fulfillment of the goals.

* Controlling – is played by each managers of Barnabas. They have to gather information that measures the performance of each department. Compare the present performance to pre-established performance norms and determine the next action plan and modify it to best suit each department. Controlling is an ongoing process.

When we think about globalization within an organization we think the possibility to interact with different cultures and see how much we have in common and learn from it. Barnabas helps everyone they do not discriminate. They also receive donations from all types of people. For example, I could go to the resale store and find something that someone donated from Japan which we normally won’t find. It helps people who don’t know what other cultures are like.
