Objective

Tanglewood has approached me to provide the organizations Director of Staffing Service Mr. Perrone with insight on how to centralize Tanglewood’s Human Resource Department by providing him with the following:

1. An overview of Tanglewood’s Mission and Values

2. Describe the type of individuals who will fit in well in the organization

a. Person/Job Match

b. Person/Organization Match

3. List and discuss the 13 Staffing decisions needed to create a more centralized Human Resource Department

4. Brief Summary on my findings

Overview

Tanglewood was originally founded in 1975 under the name Tannerwood, by two friends Tanner Emerson and Thurston Wood. These two friends have created a well established general retail chain which appeals to middle- and higher income target markets. Emerson and Wood started out with a single store and operations were funded with credit cards and personal loans. The vision for the stores was and still is to provide a personal experience, where one would love to shop and work. These two friends created a mission to support this vision, and used it to create a flat lattice organization (more commonly known as a team based organization). Employees are encouraged and rewarded to participate in discussion, no employee no matter what job description is too important to listen. This flat lattice approach allows for team work, and it helps the organization to accomplish mission goals, which is to maintain a “responsible financial management, clear and honest communication, and always keeping performance and customer service in the forefront”.

Type of Individual for Tanglewood
