Abstract
This book was written by Dr. Jerry Pipes and Victor Lee in effort to assist families into developing healthy relationships centered in Christ. The authors provides instructions on how to be mentors for your children and tools to enable them to become better disciples. The book reminds parents that is our God-given task to “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” There are many examples and ideas such as testimonies, activities, and questionnaires displayed throughout the book to guide the parents on the correct way to use the “how to”.
The book consists six chapters that discuss how to transform and transfigure a family into a healthy, Christian family. The chapters are: Healthy Families, Developing a Mission Statement, Passing the Baton, Out of the House, into the World, Out of your World, into Church and Sharing the Message. It is the authors’ beliefs that the American Christian family has gotten caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that enough time is not being spent on evangelizing with the family. A plan should be created to help families spend more quality time among each other. It is recommended by Pipes and Lee to create a mission statement. “A mission statement must not be just a set of words, but a description of a lifestyle.” In order for evangelism to be effective, one must prepared the next generation to ensure they are growing and maturing in Christ. Families should minster and work closely together throughout the community and abroad to gain more witnesses for Christ.
